The first day I arrived in Nottingham, I was quite shocked by the size of this city. Tiny is the word that I could describe. But of course there is a comparison from where I am from, Shanghai, which is a massive metropolitan. 74.61 km2 to 6,341 km2...
But the density and activity in Nottingham also surprised me so much, since there are 2 famous universities: Nottingham University and Nottingham Trent University. There are thousands of students from all over the world come here to study, and even work after graduation. Which is probably the reason that this city is full of young fashion brands, fast food restaurants, entertainments, and interesting sites.
I like to sit on the Old Market Square to watch the interaction between passers-by and the water fountain, which was redesigned by Gustafson Porter in 2004 and completed in March 2007¹.

The new designed square gets more active vibes, can really gather people all around now.

This square is the very center of the whole city, which means every people who lives in Nottingham ever passes or goes through at least 1 time each week.
I choose here to be my first research spot. Within 1 week, I went there almost every day to film passers-by's movements, take loads of photos, chat with some random people, and therefore, search information online. I found out roughly trailers of people's movements.

When the weather was bad and getting colder, I could just go for nothing, which added more difficulties for doing research. So I decided to focus on 1 busy week day/Monday and 1 weekend day. To sort a clear clue.
